As countless concerned activists and United States citizens have been working to warn many consumers, a new study finds that much of meat and poultry sold in supermarkets is contaminated with drug-resistant staph bacteria. This is to be expected, as the factory farming industry has no choice but to introduce massive doses of antibiotics into the animals, which in turn, generates resistant strains of bacteria through over-exposure to the drugs. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA in particular, has become a serious issue causing a wide variety of illnesses and deaths.
