Sowing seeds of fear for the unknown can reap atrocity

I felt the need to write this after viewing the news story in regard to the woman who slit the wrists and throats of her young children out of fear for the immanent “rapture”. I will never understand how such a fear could move a human being to perpetrate such an act.

Whenever “followers” buy into an ideology where someone has placed themselves as a “vessel of God”, they fail to understand that no human being has a definitive answer for them. Spirituality resides within you, not in a book, not on a pulpit. The more someone claims to have all of the answers, we tend to find that they have none at all.

The problem with organized religion is that for the most part, those in control of it make sure that it remains “fear based” to keep said control. There is more “fear of God” than there is “love for God” and that in itself, if a god exists, is blasphemous. To consider that an all knowing, all seeing, all powerful creator might have the ability to hate anything suggests that said creator has the ability to fear. That is absolutely ridiculous.

If you wish to seek and be closer to the source of spirituality, know yourself with wider eyes. Seek within and understand what you see as “right or wrong” from a standpoint of compassionate observation. Living every moment of each day given to you and improving upon what you see as “inequity” within yourself will make you a better human. If there is any real purpose to your existence, that is where you will find it.
